In 2003, after serving nearly 10 years as missionaries in Mexico, Mark and Laura Shook felt called to start a multi-denominational, missions-focused church in Cypress, Texas. Over the years, the Community of Faith family has grown to include thousands of diverse people, sent mission teams all over the world, partnered with organizations across Houston, and witnessed God move in powerful ways.
In 2025, God called Scott and Amanda Woods to lead Community of Faith. As Scott stepped into the role of Senior Pastor, our mission remained clear: to continue the legacy Mark and Laura began by loving our neighbors in Houston and around the world.
We live out this mission in three ways:
We Love God
- “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” — Matthew 22:37
- “We love because He first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19
We Love People
- “Love your neighbor as yourself.” — Matthew 22:39
- “By this everyone will know that you are My (Jesus) disciples, if you love one another.” — John 13:35
We Serve the World
- “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” — Matthew 28:19
- “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve…” — Mark 10:45
By staying committed to these three simple yet profound values, we are continually being transformed by God’s work in our lives.
